As an Etsy seller, it's crucial to establish an online presence that showcases your products and brand. One key aspect of setting up your shop is the size of your images. From your profile picture to your product listing photos, each image size has its own dimensions and pixel specifications. In this article, we'll delve into the various image sizes on Etsy that you need to be aware of for your online shop. What size for your Etsy shop icons
The shop icon or logo is the first photo potential customers will see when they visit your Etsy shop. This image should be 500 x 500 pixels in size and square format. Personally, I chose 1000 x 1000 pixels for better resolution. Remember that your logo should represent your brand and products, so take the time to create one that accurately reflects the aesthetics of your shop, and ensure that the colors/styles of your final image is consistent.
Etsy profile photo size
Your profile picture should be 400 x 400 pixels and must also be in a square format. Personally, for the shop icon, I chose 1000 x 1000 pixels for better resolution.
This image will appear next to your shop name and in search results. You can use your shop icon as your profile picture or upload a different image showcasing your products or even a photo of yourself. Ensure your profile picture is high quality and visually appealing.
Etsy thumbnail image size and listing image size requirements
In my blog post about Etsy image thumbnails sizes, I explain how the shift in thumbnail dimensions moved from a 4:3 ratio to a square format in the summer of 2023. However, not all images showcasing your products need to be square. Personally, I still find the 4:3 format works best for images following the thumbnail frame.
Let's consider an example. Picture a listing with 7 images, where the first one is the thumbnail. For this image, I use a square format of 2,000 x 2,000 pixels. Yet, for the other 6 images, I prefer sticking to the old format as it better highlights the product, using dimensions of 2,000 x 1,500 pixels (horizontally oriented picture, never use vertical images). Take also in consideration that you'll need to have great listing images if you want to get consistent sales on Etsy.
There is no requirement for the image file size. Today, I tried to upload image files up to 20MB, and it worked.
